After a long day of meetings, greetings and problem solving the need to relax is instinctive. Unwinding in your home away from home is easy with the vast number of local movie and historical theatres just around the corner from LuxiaSuites. Among them is Delaware’s DuPont Theatre, a breathtaking historical venue celebrating 100 years of Broadway entertainment. The building itself is a historical treasure that started out as a DuPont aspiration to bring “the finest entertainment possible” to a stage located in the heart of the nation’s first state. The Million Dollar Quartet

From May 7th until June 1st, The DuPont Theatre will be entertaining audience members with a musical delight inspired by the rock ‘n roll icons that ruled the roost back when hip shaking and guitar wielding were crossing over into mainstream music. Renditions of Johnny Cash classics and Elvis Presley chart toppers come together in this upbeat presentation that’s guaranteed to take your mind away from your workload. Prepare yourself to be dazzled by amazing Elvis impersonations as Wilmington brings a touch of Vegas to their Broadway stage.

This musical is based on the true story of a time when four of the most popular recording artists of that era got together to create what is now considered one of the most famous jam sessions in history. As the story unfolds, theatre goers are taken into a replica studio room to witness the action from inside. The Million Dollar Quartet is your personal VIP pass into the past. The best part about it is the screenplay, while inspired by a historical event, is new in comparison to shows like The Wizard of Oz and The Sound of Music which you might have already seen. This newly critically acclaimed smash is so wildly popular that the nation’s 42nd President Bill Clinton has stopped in to watch it, and Jerry Lee Lewis, one of the singers portrayed in the show,  even made a guest appearance in the musical in 2010.

Smart Talk

If you’re seeking a hit with an interactive twist, The DuPont Theatre is also hosting a series of connective conversations where guest speakers grace the stage and speak out on issues like female empowerment and give insight on issues like the ins and outs of running an established publishing company. In addition to presenting Broadway hits and high profile guest speakers, The DuPont Theatre is also bringing the classic “Camelot” to their children’s stage.

Indulging in a trip to the theatre is just one of many ways to unwind in Wilmington, Delaware. To inquire about more relaxing attractions near you, contact a LuxiaSuites guest service associate.
