Take In a Show at The Playhouse on Rodney Square

Regardless of which LuxiaSuites location you currently call home, you’re only a stone’s throw away from The Playhouse on Rodney Square. It resides within the upscale Hotel du Pont on Market Street. The Playhouse is more than just a theater; it’s a piece of local history. The Playhouse on Rodney Square has been part of Wilmington’s performing arts scene since 1913, the year the first production was staged.

Now more than a century later, it continues to draw crowds with its shows ripped right from Broadway. In February, the Playhouse will host a professional production of Chicago, followed by Mamma Mia! in early March. Then the Blue Man Group takes over for the weekend of March 18-20. 42nd Street and Jersey Boys round out the Broadway lineup from now through May, with one-off performances sprinkled in between, including standup by Tracy Morgan and a concert by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, a bagpiping group from the U.K.
